Warning Description: Winter Storm Watch

Warning Date: 3:29 PM CST on March 10, 2010

WarningSum:...Winter Storm Watch In Effect From Thursday Afternoon Through
Late Friday Night...

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Winter
Storm Watch...which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through
late Friday night. 
* A mix of rain and snow is expected to develop Thursday
  afternoon...and change to snow late Thursday afternoon...and
  continue through Friday.
* It is not certain how much snow will fall at this time...but
  several inches of heavy wet snow appears likely.
* North winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph by Thursday
  afternoon...and this may cause significant blowing and drifting
  snow...especially Thursday night and Friday.
* Farmers and ranchers with livestock should prepare for wet heavy
  snow and strong winds. Also...motorists traveling Thursday night
  and Friday...should prepare for low visibility and snow packed
  roads.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Warning Message:The Flood Warning continues for
  the Elkhorn river from Atkinson to Ewing in Holt County.
* At 3:45 PM Wednesday...the stage was 9.0 feet at Ewing. 
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet. 
* Minor flooding is occurring...and minor flooding will continue.
* Forecast...the river will continue rising to near 9.5 feet by 
  early Thursday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage 
  Friday evening. 
* Impact...at 9.5 feet...minor flooding should be anticipated along 
  and near the Elkhorn river. Residents of Ewing should take 
  precautions to protect property and livestock.
